Thanks to the monthly favourites posts from various blogs & Jesse’s Diets from 1990’s classic Fast Show, I’ve been inspired to throw together my own monthly round-up of the things, people & places – and, of course dogs! – that have brought joy into my often eventless wag life over the past month.
So, this June I have mostly been…
Visiting the theatre, which is something I usually do about once a year these days just to keep my geeky (& seemingly family inherent throughout all of my clan!) love of musicals at bay but I’ve been lucky enough to see shows in two cities this month; Six on the West End (on the front row) & Book Of Mormon in Manchester (in a la-de-da ambassador’s box with belgian chocolates, nibbles & fizz). One was full of historical girl power while the other was all about the adult humour but both fully get my recommendation.
Plus Size Life
Feeling larger than life in the most literal sense of the word. I know I’m fat & I know public transport & the likes are often the cause of many a plus size first world problem but this is the first time I’ve truly been affected by it. And it was the most embarrassing, undignified, physically painful series of events I’ve ever experienced. Train seats, theatre seats, public toilets, convenience store aisles – all were so tiny & really made me feel for the first time that I’m not welcome.
Being an uncontrollable child & stopping to make friends with every stranger dog I’ve seen. Rocky the German Shepherd in WH Smiths at Euston Station, Sky the Husky at Pizza Hut in Castleton & always Tia & Ellie the Staffies at my lash technicians‘ house are just four of my four-legged fur friends from this month. I can’t not stop to stroke dogs!
Trying to curb my frustration through my work’s trial period of hot-desking, which has not been easy & had my anxiety sky high from the very second I stepped in the office. But, on the plus side, it’s meant being able to sit with other friends & meet new workmates.
Food & Drink
Enjoying too many trips to Tim Horton’s in Manchester while their super generous free drinks offer ran throughout the month. And, for the record, it’s a medium frozen hot chocolate for me & a large dark roast with no cream or sugar for Crater.
It’s been a mixed bag this month but the gratitude attitude is strong in this one so instead of letting the tiny seats of theatres beat me down, I allowed the magic of the stage fill me & my already very full figure with joy.
Same again next month? I don’t see why not!
